Peer Support Welcome to the Peer Support Program

At Independent Living London and area, our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to live independently and build meaningful social connections. We offer a range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of our community members, including personalized support, online peer-based activities, and community-based activities. All our services are open to anyone who self-identifies as having lived experience with a disability.

One-on-One Support

Our Peer support coordinators are here to assist you in overcoming barriers to independent living. Through one-on-one support, our team work closely with you to develop customized plans that address your unique needs and concerns. We will help you connect with essential resources and support networks in the London, Sarnia, Huron County, Elgin County, Stratford, Chatham- Kent, Windsor and surrounding regions.

Peer Activities

Building strong relationships is at the heart of the Peer Support Program. We facilitate opportunities for individuals with disabilities to engage with peers through various social activities. Our peer-based offerings include:

  1. Casual Conversation Groups: Engage in relaxed and friendly discussions.
  2. Special Interest Activities: Join movie and book clubs, seated yoga, adapted exercise sessions, and more.
  3. Guest Speakers and Workshops: Participate in informative sessions led by experts.
  4. Games and Recreational Activities: Enjoy fun and interactive experiences with others.

All of our peer activities are currently offered virtually, hybrid and in-person, allowing for safe and accessible participation. Our programs are free to join and do not require an assessment or intake process.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have adapted our services to a virtual and hybrid format. While the nature of our delivery has changed, our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment remains unwavering. Our virtual platforms help eliminate many of the physical barriers that individuals with disabilities often encounter.
